Hello, I am Eddie Caples. Welcome to my website.
Some background information about me: I was born in Doddsville, Mississippi, USA. I learned to create quilts by watching my grandmother, my mother and our neighbours on the plantation where I grew up.
I am now retired after a long and varied career in the US military, the California penal system, and in drug and alcohol counselling, but I have always made quilts.
I began quilting by hand stitching pieces of cloth together when I was eight years old, an age when it was determined by my elders (mother, grandmother and father) that I knew that needles had very sharp points.
At first I began hand stitching pieces together (they didn’t have to match) to form a “square” to cover a weak area on existing quilts or blankets.
I made my first quilt approximately 50 years ago. In the last 25 years I have made more than 100 quilts. Of that 100, 50 (yep I’ve counted them) went to family and friends.
